The Graduate Program in Economics at the Federal University of Uberlândia (PPGE-UFU) is dedicated to excellence in research and teaching, encompassing different schools of economic thought and aiming at developing research in Economics, as well as training future researchers for public and private institutions in Brazil and abroad. PPGE’s main area of study is Economic Development, with the following research areas: i) Applied Economics; ii) Regional Economics and its Diversities; iii) Agriculture, Environment and Sustainable Development; iv) Public Policies and Economic Development.
PPGE’s researchers have been studying the following subjects: Macroeconomics, Monetary and Financial Economics; International Economics and Trade; Growth and Economic Development; Agrarian and Natural Resource Economics; Public Sector Economics; Political Economy and Dependency Theory; Regional and Urban Economics; Social and Labor Economics; Microeconomics, Industrial and Technological Economics; International Monetary and Financial Relations. Researchers and Students at PPGE-UFU can be found in six different research centers: Applied Economics; Economic Development; Social and Labor Economics; Regional and Urban Development; International Relations; Rural Studies.
PPGE has also expertise on issues related to the development of the Triângulo Mineiro region and the Brazilian Cerrado, especially subjects related to territorial and rural development, agricultural financing, family farming, food security, the environment and sustainable development.
In addition to its Master’s and Doctoral Programs, PPGE also offers a Postdoctoral Fellowship Program and a “Special Student” Program, which gives the opportunity for current graduate students from other programs, and prospective students, to enroll in graduate-level classes.
