Prospective Doctoral Students
If you are interested in pursuing a Doctoral (PhD) Program in Economics at UFU you must have a bachelor´s or associate degree in any field of study. PPGE’s main area of study is Economic Development and prospective Doctoral students must choose between one of the two research areas: i) Applied Economics; ii) Public Policies and Economic Development.
Program Requirements
Students enrolled in PPGE’s Doctoral Program are expected to spend the equivalent of at least two years, and at most four years, in full-time study. Prospective Doctoral International Students may contact the Graduate in Economics office (E-mail: ppge@ufu.br) for further information on the admission process. The minimum course requirements are 101 credits, of which:
- 12 credits in compulsory subjects;
- 36 credits in optional subjects;
- 2 credits in Foreign Language Proficiency;
- 3 credits in a Qualifying Exam;
- 48 credits in Doctoral (PhD) Dissertation.
Minimum time frame requirement to complete the PhD Degree: 24 months
Maximum time frame requirement to complete the PhD Degree: 48 months
